I want to thank each and every last one of you for supporting this blog over the past year. We've come a long way and we're about to go to an even higher level. I hope 2010 was a great year for you and I pray that 2011 is even greater. Again, I thank you and wish you all a Happy New Year.

Mississippi Governor Playing Politics With The Scott Sisters

Nice try Governor, but I'm not buying it. These two women have been sitting in prison for 16 years and all of a sudden, the Governor grants them a "conditional" release. The "condition" is, one sister has to give a kidney to the other one.
MANNN PLEASE!!!!
Jamie Scott has needed a kidney transplant since the summer. Now all of a sudden you want to release them?
What has happened to give this defiant Governor a change of heart?
Is he just in the holiday spirit?
Is it the pressure being put on him by the NAACP?
Or is he trying to score some political points after putting his foot in his mouth about the KKK, Conservative Citizens Council during the Civil Rights era.

Last week, Governor Barbour said of growing up in his hometown of Yazoo City, Mississippi, "They didn't have a Klan problem." (in Mississippi.......in the 50s &60s). He said "People from the north had it wrong about the Conservative Citizens Council. The Conservative Citizens Council was a great organization of businessmen who protected it's citizens from the Klan."
Yeah, right!
The Conservative Citizens Council was a group of local businessmen who made sure that segregation was kept in tact during the 50s & 60s. They mad sure that if anyone was found to be registering people to vote, they were "dealt with". In other words, these group of men were CCC in the daytime and KKK at night.
After Gov. Barbour made the above statements, many people, including people in his own party ran from him like he had a disease or something.
The NAACP was hammering him left & right.
The natinal media was all over him.
He had to do something to get everybody to settle down.
And what does he do?
He grants the Scott sisters a "conditional" release.
He does that, thinking, "THIS should calm them down."
"THIS should show I'm not a racist."
" THIS will take the heat off of me."
And guess what, it probably will. But make no mistake about it, THIS wasn't done because he felt it was the right thing to do. THIS was done because Mississippi Governor, Haley Barbour is playing politics with the Scott sisters.

I'm glad they are going to be released but I would like to see the Governor grant them a NON-CONDITIONAL release. Something they deserved about 10 years ago!

Another Pastor In The News.......For The Wrong Reason

*taking a deep breath*
You know, I tried, I really tried to stay away from the "Pastors Gone Wild" news this year. Not because I'm afraid of judging them or anything like that. But at some point, all the piling on becomes a bit much. It amazes me how people love to talk about things like the Eddie Long scandal but never talk about the Pastors who are practicing what they're preaching. Speaking of Eddie Long......If he was so adamant about "having his day in court" to defend himself, then why in the world is he trying to settle out of court? I have a few friends who are members at New Birth and I have heard them on several ocassions call themselves "Sons of the Bishop". Man.......don't get me started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, that's not what I wanted to talk about.
Have you guys heard about this woman out in Texas?
Her name is Pastor Sandy McGriff. She is accused of breaking into a church members house and stealing some of their stuff.
Her reason?
She claimed that she just happened to be in the area, saw two men on the side of the house, saw a broken window and decided to do something about it. So instead of calling 911, she went into the house, took a couple of fur coats and a laptop so that the crooks wouldn't steal it.
*BLANK STARE*
Ummm........ok........sure!!!!!!!!!
I've heard of some crazy excuses but this one takes the cake. Look, I don't know what's going on in this season where Pastors and leaders of churches are acting as if they aren't going to be held to a higher accountabilty for their actions. But I do know, people need to really examine who they sit up under. I understand, everybody has a past and everybody makes mistakes, but this has got to stop, soon.

Good Morning!

Soooo........How was your Christmas?
Did you eat enough?
Get snowed in?
Had unexpected company that got on your nerves and didn't want to leave your house regardless of how many hints you dropped?
Ok.....Ok......settling down.
Man, there's been all kinds of stuff going on since we last met.
Teena Marie passed, TEENA MARIE PASSED!!!!
I used to love me some Teena Marie!!!
*singing*
I'm talking Square Biz to you baby.....Square, Square Biz!
My bad, I almost forgot I couldn't sing.
Got any big plans for 2011?
I know I do!
This year has been a year of construction for your boy.
I've been focused on building some things: a career, a new relationship, writing this book.
Hey, let me tell you something, this project that I'm working on has really tested my patience. But I know, that the end result will be well worth it. I'm not going to give much detail. All I will tell you is to expect the unexpected.
It's been in the works for a minute and I can finally see the finish line.
And no.......I'm not writing a Steve Harvey type of book (by the way, I still haven't picked up his latest book yet, but I will.)
Hmmmmm........I think that's all I wanted to say.
I think I'll post a few blogs now.....lol!

Merry Christmas From The Board Room

There will be no meetings in The Board Room for the remainder of the week. I pray everyone has a safe and wonderful week. If for some reason you don't get what you WANT this Christmas. Just remember, you already have everything you NEED.
Merry CHRISTmas!

A Secession Ball ? Seriously South Carolina ?

This is one of those rare occasions where I am speechless.
A Secession Ball??
For what?
Why?
What are you celebrating??
The fact that your state was so determined to have slaves that you suceeded from the Union?
I don't get it!
Has this what we've come to in this country?
Is this what Conservatives mean by "taking their country back"?
Is this where they want to take it back to?
Did the election of Barack Obama cause you to resurrect "The South Shall Rise Again" slogan?
I know it's a tough pill to swallow.
Someone who doesn't look like you can become President.
I know that threw you for a loop.
But THIS-THIS is ridiculous!
The NAACP is planning a protest, and that is fine.
But the way to let the "good people of South Carolina" know that this is unacceptable, is to hit them in their pocketbook.
I wish people would stop visiting the state.
I wish......I WISH.....football recruits would boycott attending any universities in the state.
I wish artist wouldn't do concerts or shows in the state.
I wish those type of things were done to make these people understand, they can not function as a state without the help of black people.
Ok, I'm running out of things to say!
Well, not really!
I'm running out of constructive things to say!
So I'll just keep quiet (for now).

Neo Soul Saturdays In The Board Room

Say It Ain't So Keri Hilson

I first heard of Keri Hilson a few years back on Timberland's debut album, Shock Treatment. Man, that album (CD) was off the chain. Since then, Ms. Hilson has done her thang on the music scene. Everytime I've seen her in a magazine or on an awards show, she has looked very classy and sexy too, if I may add.(picture on the right).
BUT NOW.....................
I don't know WHAT she's doing!
Now, Ms. Hilson has opted for a new look. She has, what the music industry likes to say "added an edge" to her image.(picture on the left). Her latest video had the internet buzzing because of it's sexual nature. Not that videos with sexual overtones are anything new, but it just didn't seem to fit Ms. Hilson.
This may have been Ms. Hilson's true image all along, but I don't like it. Maybe a few years ago when I was younger that may appeal to me but not now. Personally, I'm tired of attractive singers adding "a sexy edge" to their image to sell a few more records. That may help you short term, but your TALENT is what will sustain a career.
Thank God for the Jill Scott(s), Leela James(s), and Ledisi(s) of the world. They may not flaunt their sexiness all over the place, but to me, as a man, that's what makes them sexy.
Plus, "Dem guhls can sang shawty" (said in my Birmingham, Al. dirty south voice).

I hope somebody gets in Keri Hilson's ear before she commits career suicide and become just another cute face with a nice body trying to imitate a real artist.

Old School Friday Night

My favorite group in the entire world!

Conservatives & White Supremacist Groups Boycotting Idris Elba's Role In Movie

I know, I know........some of you are looking at the title and trying to figure out the difference between a Conservative and a White Supremacist. We'll get to that another time.
Has anyone ever heard of the movie Thor?
Is anyone familiar with Thor?
Don't feel bad, I had never heard of it either.
Thor is a comic book movie about a Norse God, Heimdall, a mythical character from an early German tribe from way back, like the 9th century or something. (that's what the thang said when I pulled it up).
Well, some Conservatives are upset because Idris Elba, a black man, got the role. These people are actually calling for a boycott of the movie. The Council of Conservative Citizens and other crazies like the tea party folks are calling this, affirmative action gone wild.
I guess the shoe doesn't feel so good on the other foot. For YEARS we as black people have had to watch shows with an all white cast. You never heard us talking about boycotting a movie because the character should be black.
Besides, it's a MYTHICAL character!!!!!!!!
CALM DOWN!!!!!
It's not like someone did a movie about the bible and decided to cast Morgan Freeman as Jesus. THEN I could understand why you would be upset.
Although Morgan Freeman is closer to the TRUE physical description of Jesus than that red haired man hanging on most people's wall.
(Revelation 1:14-15)

He's Out On Bail!

I'm kind of cautious about even discussing this story, so I'll be brief. The guy that released some documents that were leaked to him was granted bail this morning. Not exactly sure what this means but I don't think it's good for the U.S. government. This man has already said if he is arrested or something happens to him, all he has to do is hit a button or type in a code or something and he can mess up computer systems all over the world. Doesn't this sound like some Jason Bourne, James Bond type stuff? If this was a movie I would be glued to the screen. But since it's not, I'll limit my words for fear of being targeted. Laugh if you want to, but I'm serious!
I have a question though. What's worst, this man releasing documents or Fox "news" creating an atmosphere of hate surrounding the President of The United States?

Another Senseless Murder

This one comes from Sacramento, California where Monique Nelson, a 30 year old single mother was killed by a stray bullet outside a strip mall. Monique had just loaded her 2 year old son into his car seat when shots rang out. Monique was struck in the chest and killed instantly. Six other people were shot (all males) when two cowards walked into Fly Cuts & Styles and opened fire. Not sure if Monique was struck by the gunmen who stormed the barber shop or the owners of the barber shot shooting at the two cowards. But at this point, it doesn't matter. Another family has lost a daughter, a son has lost his mother and we have witnessed Another Senseless Murder.

Oh No........Not Another Season Of THIS Mess!

Last night marked the return of the trainwreck known as Basketball Wives on VH-1.
Quick question: Why is it called "Basketball Wives" and none of these women are actually married?
Well I take that back, one of them is married but she sees her husband when he wants her to see him.
Is it me or is this the new norm for black women on television?
This mixed with the Real Housewives of Atlanta have set black women back 20 years. At least that's what this older black woman said on a radio show today.
Is this what black women have to do to get a "meaningful" role on television?
See who can become the biggest drama queen?
Shaunie O'Neal has tens of millions of dollars at her disposal and this is what she decides to put her name behind?
I guess when you live in a world as shallow and as fake as Basketball "Wives" do, we shouldn't expect anything more.
Millions of people will tune in to watch this mess this season. Sad thing about it, many of those people are young girls who have the false impression that THIS is the good life.

Steve Harvey's New Book

I wasn't a big fan of Steve Harvey's first book. Not really sure why, considering I didn't read one single page. I guess it was because I had a closed mind, or maybe I just thought of Steve Harvey as a comedian. The title didn't appeal to me either.
"Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man"
I recall thinking to myself, "Here goes another brotha throwing men under the bus to(fill in the blank)___________
Sell a book!(Steve Harvey)
Lure folks to go see his movie! (Tyler Perry)
Get people to tune to his radio show! (Michael Baisden)
I've since changed my mind on Steve Harvey and Tyler Perry but Michael Baisden is another story.
*detour*
How many shows can you do on "I Caught My Man With Another Woman" or "Black Men Can't Handle A Real Woman" or "Pimps In The Pulpit"? That last one drives me nuts! Seriously, it's like that dude hates anything having to do with God and religion. Does he not realize that God is the one who gave him his platform? Yet he use it to criticize people for believing in prayer and call people who tithe "stupid"? He better be careful before God takes that platform and give it to a 5'8 155 lbs light skinned dude with freckles, who has a swagger like TI and a nonchalant, bold attitude like Kanye, who DESIRES to glorify God and uplift his people (in that order).
*back to the blog*
The other day, I was taking my weekly stroll around my local Books-A-Million and saw Steve Harvey's new book all over the place. I couldn't help myself, I picked up a copy and to my surprise, I couldn't put it down. From THE FEW PAGES I read, it wasn't the male bashing directory I thought it would be. It made a lot of since and really was aimed at the responsibilities of a man rather than his short-comings. As I walked out of the book store I started to wonder why Steve had changed his stance, why he went in a different direction than his previous book.
Why did I dislike the concept of his first book but seemed to appreciate the second book. Then it hit me, maybe the problem wasn't the book.
Maybe the problem was ME!
Maybe I was so caught up into the "anti-male bashing movement" that I couldn't see the only person doing the male bashing was ME!
I'll be picking up a copy of Steve's latest book and I'll tell you what I think once I finish reading it.

What's Up Board of Directors!

I've been out of comission for an entire week (thanks to a virus on my laptop), but I'm back!
So what's been up?
What's been on your mind?
I'm sure there are plenty of things you want to talk about, plenty of things you want to discuss.
This whole wiki......well I won't even type the words on my laptop. From what I've read, just typing the words can cause you to get connected to a network that automatically hacks into your computer.
Not sure how true it is, but after the week I had, I'm not taking any chances.

What was up with the President this week?
Looks like he caved to the GOP. Oh, my bad, COMPROMISED, whatever you want to call it, HE CAVED!
Then he invited a former President to come and explain to the American people why he did it. I told someone the other day when President Clinton was standing at the podium that "this is the day President Obama became a one term President."
I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt. Not only do I think he will be a one termer, but he will probably end up getting a Democratic challenger.
If that happens, can you say President Palin? ME EITHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, it felt strange just typing those two words together. But if the President doesn't start calling the GOP bluff on some issues, who knows what may happen because Democrats (self included) is starting to feel like the President doesn't understand how to fight politically.
Speaking of Sarah Palin,
Did you see where she took a trip to Haiti and FOX "NEWS" was there to interview her?
Can you say, PR stunt!?
Oh and I touched on this briefly last week, but why is Keri Hilson "going in a different direction" as her management team calls it.
I guess sex sells! (to the shallow)
Anyway, just wanted to type "something" on this page since it's been dead for a week.
Got a lot of stuff I need to get off of my chest. So hold on and stay tuned for what promises to be an interesting week in The Board Room.

Thanks again for your support and PLEASE spread the word.

The movement is about to start.

Let's Get It!

Sincerly,

The Board Room Jam Of The Week

Been out of pocket for a minute but I'm back in the building now. Has anyone seen the new Keri Hilson video? You haven't? Sorry, you won't see it here either. We support REAL music and REAL artists here in THE BOARD ROOM. It's sad when an artist has to sell sex to sell records. Anyway, enjoy this jam from my girl Chrisette Michele.

The Cabrini Green Syndrome

A federal judge had to order 12 remaining families to evacuate the Cabrini Green housing projects that are being torn down. They refused to leave the building that has been deemed unsafe, unhealthy and a financial burden to the city and it's residents. When I read this, something clicked in my mind.
"A federal judge had to MAKE people leave a place that is being torn down."
Isn't this kinda of ironic when it comes to people who live in areas such as Cabrini Green? No offense to those people but many people grow up in this environment and have children. Their children grow up in this environment and have children. Then THEY grow up in this environment and have children. Pretty soon, you have three generations of one family that grow up in an area like Cabrini Green, a place where there is no hope and no signs of prosperity. When that happens what has been created is a "this is the way things are" type of mentality, where people don't think they can do better or deserve better.
Of course I'm not painting every one of these folks with a broad brush but you know as well as I do that many people get settled and don't make an effort to try and better their lives. They're content with where they are and the only way to get them out of that place physically and mentality is for something to happen that forces them to leave.
But sometimes even when they are forced to leave (that place or mentality), they are still content with being stuck there.
It's like an old hip hop song by one of my old favorite groups, Mobb Deep. There's a line in their song "Survival of the Fit", where they proclaim:
"No matter how much loot I get I'm staying in the projects.....FOREVER".
THAT type of thinking is one of the major problems we as a people have to deal with......being MENTALLY stuck in a place that we are PHYSICALLY able to leave.
Thus, the Cabrini Green Syndrome!

University of Colorado Could Hire A Black Football Coach......Because He's Black?

Washington Redskins assistant coach Jon Embree was reportedly offered the University of Colorado head coaching job. Former head coach Bill McCartney was also named as a candidate and that's where things got interesting. McCartney told members of the press that his name was removed from consideration because the university wanted to hire a "black" coach. Now, the University of Colorado has said they're still interviewing other coaches for the job. It sounds like McCartney is saying that's the reason they didn't re-hire him as head coach. Maybe they didn't want to hire McCartney because he's 73 years old. Maybe they wanted to hire Embree because he is younger and a better fit for the job. Sure, there were other candidates who were more quailified, but Embree played at Colorado and knows the area which helps in recruiting.

Why is it when a black candidate gets a job over a white candidate, that person always cry affirmative action?
Why is it when a white candidate gets a job over a black candidate, that person always cry racism?

Those are legitimate questions in the real world, but in college football it's different. Out of 119 Division one college football programs there are only 3 head football coaches and one of them, Randy Shannon, just got fired so that only leaves 2.
If the University of Colorado wants to hire this coach because he is black, does that mean that the other college football programs hire white coaches because they're white?
Just something to think about!

The President Went To Howard University

Ok, the headline is a little misleading.
The President and the first family attended a basketball game at historical Howard University over the holiday weekend. Howard was playing Oregon State University which is coached by Eugene Robinson , the brother of the First Lady and the First Family dropped in to check out the game. I know Howard University students are mad they weren't in town to greet the FFOTUS.
Can anyone recall the last time a sitting (or former) President attended anything at an HBCU that didn't involve a campaign or politics? See, this is one of the things many Black people love about the First Family. This is why we feel like one of us made it to the White House.

I wonder if The First Lady took Sasha and Malia over to the AKA stone or any of the other BGLOs that were founded at Howard University (for the record,Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.was founded on the campus of Indiana University).....had to throw that in there. I'm sorry but things like the FFOTUS hanging out on an HBCU campus is priceless to me.
Now if we can get them to attend the Magic City Classic next year here in Birmingham, I'll be straight.  Ok......Ok........I know that's pushing it, but if by chance someone in the White House is reading this blog (wishful thinking), we will be at gate 6B in the white corporate tent with the live band and DJ. If the police officers checking wristbands gives you a hard time, just time them Mod Lumpkin from The Board Room invited you and they will let you right in.

Sarah Palin:The Rhodes Scholar

For those of you who still think this woman is capable of running this country, allow me to introduce you to her latest "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?" moment.

Yesterday on the Glenn Beck radio show, this woman was asked how the Obama administration should handle the developments in North Korea. For those of you who may not know, North Korea test fired a missle into South Korea, killing two people. In essence making a declaration of war. This woman who wants to be President, this woman who seriously thinks she can defeat Barack Obama, this woman who millions of gulliable, STUPID people think is a political genius said:

" We have to stand behind North Korea, our allies, because of the treaty."

Actually lady,  SOUTH KOREA is our ally!

She was quickly corrected by the guest host to which she responded:

"Eh, Yeah. And we're bound by our prudence to stand with our South Korean allies, yes."

Maybe it was an honest mistake but considering the fact that there's nothing honest about this woman and she's made mistakes like this before, you have to believe she really had no clue who our allies are in that region. This is the same woman who said she has foriegn policy experience because she could see Russia from Alaska.

This is the woman many Republicans think can be President?

I PRAY that she is the GOP nominee in 2012!!!

*and for the record, I DO NOT listen to Glenn Beck, I read this story on various news sites.

Black Man Killed By Arab Convience Store Owner In Miami: Whose Fault Is It?

Tensions rise in Miami after a Black man was killed by an Arab store owner over the weekend. Akil Laure Oliver reportedly walked into a convience store and started verbally assaulting the owner. After being asked to leave Mr. Oliver and one of the owners got into it. Mr.Oliver picked up a bottle, the owner then took a crowbar and bashed Oliver across the head, killing him. The owner claims it was self defense, but people in the neighborhood says it was racial. Go figure!
I wasn't there, I don't know what happened. But I'm tripping off of all of these people protesting this store and other stores owned by Arabs around the city of Miami claiming that they are racists. Like the STORES and the Arabs who own them are the reason the black community is failing. I have witnessed on several occasions at more than one store, young black men walk into a store and call these Arab owners every name under the sun. Many of these owners often look afraid for their lives, not knowing if these guys are going to rob them or not. It's kind of sad actually.
But it makes you wonder though, if they really are that afraid, why do they open their stores in black neighborhoods?
Why not white neighorhoods?
Is it because they want to serve the black community or they know they can't pull some of the same foolishness in the white neighborhoods as they do in ours?
Why is it I can walk into a store owned by an Arab person (or anyone else for that matter) and bump into an ice chest full of Wild Irish Rose and Mad Dog 20/20 before I can get to the counter?
If I want to cash a check at one of their stores, why will it cost me 5-10% of my check?
Is it THEIR fault or OUR responsibility to do better?

All of these people are protesting in Miami and demanding that Arab owners respect their black consumers. But where is all of this outrage, protesting and marching when someone is killed in the "Pork & Beans" area of Miami?
Something happens there, everybody plays dumb and invoke that STUPID code of the streets.....NO SNITCHING!
Gimmie a break...............
I hate to hear this happened to the young man in Miami but it's not the first and unfortunately won't be the last shooting at a store owned by an Arab person. The question becomes, whose REALLY at fault when it happens?

Sarah Palin Goes IN On The First Lady

WHY.......I don't know!
Maybe it's jealousy..........
Let's see...........
The First Lady graduated cum laude from Princeton and received her law degree from Harvard.
Sarah Palin took 5 years to graduate from........wherever she graduated from.
The First Lady became a VERY successful attorney with a major law firm.
Sarah Palin worked at a local news station as a sportscaster.
The First Lady met, married, and supported (with love) a man who was an attorney, United States Senator and now the President of The United States.
Sarah Palin married Todd Palin who works as a ............................(exactly)!
The First Lady has a strong close knit family.
Sarah Palin's family looks like they should be regulars on the Maury Povich show.

That's why Palin attacking the First Lady in her book, America By Heart  makes no sense to me.  She all but says the reason the President hates white people and America is because he's married to a racist who made him attend the church of Jeremiah Wright. Personally, I'm still upset that the Obamas left that church after 20 years. You don't have to agree with everything your Pastor does but if that's where you're rooted, if that's where you're being spiritually fed, why leave?
Yeah, I know.......he HAD to do it but I still don't agree with it. But the Jeremaih Wright thing is old news. The quote about The First Lady "being proud of her country for the first time" (which was taken WAYYYY out of context) is old news. So why is this "woman" trying to bring it up now?
I'll tell you why!
It's because Palin has convinced herself she can beat Barack Obama in 2012 .She's going to try and draw his wife's radical upbringing on the southside of Chicago in to paint him as .........whatever she's trying to paint him as. But somebody needs to tell Sarah Palin that if she's going to play that game, she better be prepared to deal with the SILENT MAJORITY!
Ain't no way in hell am I or anyone else who supports this President going to sit on the sideline while she attacks Michelle Obama. Maybe it's time someone start talking about her husband's role in the Alaskan Independence Party, a group that wanted to succeed from the U.S. Maybe HER family should be thrown into the spotlight and let her see how she can handle it.
If she keeps it up, THE BOARD ROOM will be ground zero for THAT war!

Freedom,Liberty, Patriotism and Flag Lapels

*random blog*
I love this country.....I really do!!! This is the only country in the world that someone like me can write something like this and not be thrown in jail. But I must tell you, I am getting sick and tired of some people acting as if they have a copyright on what it means to be an American.
You know the type!
They drive around with the American flag on their car.
They wear t-shirts with the American flag on it.
They love to use words like Freedom and Liberty.
But worst of all, they wear those stupid flag lapel pins.
I really can't explain why it bothers me so. I guess it all started when President Obama was running for office and he was criticized because he didn't wear one. Like wearing a flap lapel means you love this country more than those who don't wear one.
I don't know why I'm blogging about this........I take that back......I do know why.
I was watching CNN and saw a story about this 13 year old kid in California who was told by his teacher to take the American flag off of his bike. The principal said there had been racial tensions between white students and Hispanic students and felt the 13 year old was taunting the other students. Personally, I think that's ridiculous but if that's their policy then that's their policy.
Well a few days later a bunch of bikers show up and this kid starts passing out American flags. The scene of all of these bikers riding through the streets waving the American flag wasn't that big of a deal. But when they interviewed one of the bikers, he said,
"Our Freedom and Liberties are under attack."
Then he walks away chanting USA!!!! USA!!!! USA!!!!
I thought I was going to throw up!!
I know, this blog may seem petty. But these people and their "Love of Their Country" is starting to remind me of the south in the 1960s. Except now, the Confederate flag has been replaced with the American flag!

The Board Room Jam Of The Week

President Obama May Face A Democratic Challenger In 2012

There's a small group of Democrats who are thinking about challenging Obama for the party's nomination in 2012. This should be a warning sign to the President that he shouldn't cave in on extending the Bush Tax Cuts and also shouldn't be so quick to compromise with Republicans. His base doesn't want that! Many in the more progressive/liberal wing of the party feel the President didn't fight hard enough for them and their issues in his first two years. Therefore ANYTHING that appears to hint at any movement farther to the Center will be taken as weakness. It's an interesting story that we need to keep our eye on.

For Colored Men

Dear Fellow Colored Men,
Lately I've noticed your relentless attacks on Tyler Perry's latest movie. You're tired of seeing the thug, down-low, cheating, lying, good for nothing, leave the black woman for a white woman when he gets some money, lowdown dirty dog character that is present in most of his movies. I know how you feel, I once felt the same way. That was until I looked in the mirror and realized a film maker doesn't define who I am. I don't need Tyler Perry to put characters in his movies that will make me feel good. Even if he did put more than one character in his movie that cast black men......sorry..........COLORED Men in a good light, you know as well as I do, that wouldn't satisfy most of you. And if we can really keep it 100, many of you wouldn't go to the movies to see it anyway unless your woman MADE you take her. If it was up to you, you would holla at your boy at the barber shop to get the bootleg version.

I know many of you are looking at the screen sideways while you're reading this (if you're reading this) thinking to yourself, man, Mod is tripping. But am I tripping? Am I not telling the truth about the bootleg movies? Am I not telling the truth about not going to the movies to support a movie that would cast black men......sorry.....COLORED men in a good light?

Ok, be honest! What was the last movie you went to see that had an all black cast written by a black writer?
Did you go see Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls? (my favorite Tyler Perry movie by the way)
No.........WHY NOT!?
Oh because it was Tyler Perry!!?? Oh, Ok!
What about Not Easily Broken!?
Never heard of it!?
-It was a movie starring Morris Chestnut and Taraji P. Henson where Chestnut was a budding superstar athlete who had an accident that left him physically unable to play ball. He was a faithful husband married to a woman that treated him like garbage because she made more money than he did. Her meddling mother-in-law played by Jennifer Lewis (from some Tyler Perry movies) living with them didn't help matters either. It was a great movie!!!
WAIT......you guys didn't see that one either? WHY!?
Oh because it was by T.D. Jakes?
Oh because you think Bishop Jakes is a crooked preacher who plays on the emotions of women?

*detour*
Maybe if you took 30 minutes to listen to Bishop Jakes, you wouldn't need TYLER PERRY to make you feel good about yourself on a movie screen. I find it fascinating that some of you would criticize Bishop Jakes and other pastors for "living lavishly" but are silent when it comes to people like Lil Wayne (no offense to Lil Wayne). But why is it that Weezy can push a Phantom and live in a 5 Million dollar crib but Pastors are suppose to drive a station-wagon while living in a 2 bedroom apartment? He can drop the N-WORD, call black women bi*ches and h#es all throughout his records and you're cool with that but you're quick to criticze Bishop Jakes who preaches the Word of God (Y'all don't wanna talk FOR REAL)

*back to the blog*
Yet those same dudes who are up in arms about Tyler Perry's latest movie will sit and watch Hustle & FlowBaby Boy and other movies that stereotype black men and not complain once. I dare say, if you brothers would show directors that you would go out and support movies that represent good men, maybe the Tyler Perrys of the world would consider making those type of movies. Until then, he's going to make movies that touch the heart of women because he knows he can count on THEM to show up and support him while we cry and complain from the side lines.

* I'm sure many men won't like this but we keeps it 100 in The Board Room!*

Sincerly,
The COLORED MAN who owns this blog!

600 Women & Girls Raped

More than 600 hundred women and girls were raped on the Congo-Angola border while waiting to be deported. This isn't talked about in this country but it's happening and deserves our attention. This country has been quick to address issues in other parts of the world, but THIS derserves some attention also. This isn't new, it's been going on for years! Women and Girls are dying from internal injuries! I'm not sure what can be done but surely someone, somewhere in Washington can put pressure on the UN to put pressure on the corrupt governments of these countries to put an end to this barbaric behavior.

ANOTHER Senseless Murder

I hate doing this, I really do. But unfortunately we have ANOTHER Senseless Murder on our hands. This one comes from Douglasville, Ga. Bobby Tillman, an 18 year old was beaten to death by 3-4 cowards at a house party. Reports say the 5'6 124 lb kid just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Some guys showed up to a house party uninvited and got into an altercation with a female. One of the guys reportedly said he would never hit a girl, but he was going to beat up the next guy that walked outside.
Unfortunately that next guy was Bobby Tillman. Here's the worst part of the entire thing. There was an estimated 57 people who stood around and watched it happen. As the parent of a 14 year old, this really breaks my heart. I can't imagine what this young man's parents are going through.
Please continue to pray for our youth but also continue to put pressure on your kids to START SNITCHIN' . Good kids shouldn't have to suffer because of cowards like this.

Who's To Blame For The High Number Of Black Men Being Incarcerated?

Who do you blame?
Is it the justice system? Is it the political structure? Is it the lack of jobs available?
OR
Is it the responsibility of the individual to make better decisions?
I believe it to be the latter.
Now take a look at the picture above. This guy is marching and protesting outside the White House with this sign. This in my opinion is the problem with our community. It's as if we're passing the responsibility of the individual onto the governement, Justice Department, The Powers That Be, or whomever. I'm not naive enough to think that Blacks aren't given more time for the same crimes committed by people of other races. But that doesn't erase the fact that blacks are committing twice as many crimes as anyone else either. Sentencing disparities must be dealt with, but in order to deal with the that, we first must deal with the facts. And the facts are, blacks are committing twice as many crimes as anyone else. Maybe, just maybe, when we stop committing as many crimes, we will see the incarceration rate drop.

The Board Room Jam Of The Week

Could This Man Be The Next POTUS?

Meet Marco Rubio, a rising star in the Republican party. He's young, he's Conservative, he's connected to the tea party, he just became Senator-elect in Florida and most importanly.....Hispanic. That last one should worry any Democrat or supporter of the President the most and here's why.
The GOP know they can't roll out someone like Haley Barber, Governor from Mississippi or Sarah Palin  to run against Barack Obama in 2012. They know they would lose in a landslide. But what if they could find someone who is young, energetic and can bring a voting bloc that would rival the black voting bloc of the President? What if that person can guarantee them a major state like Florida? If they can do that, then it's closed curtains for President Obama.
Marco Rubio fits that mold perfectly and unlike the President, Rubio wouldn't have to beg and plead for Hispanics to go out and vote. They would line up at 4 in the morning, in the rain to cast their vote. Unlike us who would sit out an election because we don't want to mess up our hair or stand in line too long.
(But we would stand in line in a thunderstorm to see Nene from RHOA. We won't tune in to watch a debate but we would DVR the BET Hip Hop Awards.)
*back to the blog*
Nominating Marco Rubio would pose a threat because this past mid-term election showed how much ground the Democrats have lost. Democrats lost states like Florida, Ohio, Indiana and even lost Illinois. That's right the Senate seat once held by the President is now occupied by a Republican. So all that leaves Democrats in 2012 are the states on the West coast which has a huge Latino bloc. And that's where the chess match begins. Nominating Marco Rubio not only keeps the states above but it locks up the West coast . The reason why, Latinos vote and Blacks don't!

When this happens, remember you heard it in The Board Room FIRST!

Is Soledad O' Brien "Black" Enough?

"Is she BLACK enough?"

"Why is SHE doing a show on 'Black In America'?"

I've heard these questions and so many more about Soledad O' Brien.

My response, "WHO CARES?"

If she were a white woman with blonde hair and blue eyes it wouldn't make a difference to me. Soledad who was born to a black father and white mother has had to deal with that question her entire life. She finally has decided to address it in her upcoming book., "The Next Big Story" .
In the book she takes to task all who would question her Blackness including the man she calls "The Arbiter of Blackness" Reverend Jesse Jackson.
Rev. Jackson started questioning her blackness when she began doing the "Black In America" specials. I guess it's a hard pill to swallow when people put your lunch on the front porch instead of the kitchen table.
My personal opinion, she should tell Jesse Jackson to go play in traffic. This is the same man (along with Al Sharpton) who questioned if President Obama was Black Enough. Instead of questioning her Blackness they should be working with her to help resolve some of the issues that she addressed. But that makes too much sense. Jackson and others would rather dictate from the sideline and enter the game when they can be the MVP.
I commend Soledad for doing what she does. Debt, lack of education, the abscence of Black fathers are all key issues that continue to plague our community. I would encourage Soledad to continue the good work and I would encourage those of you who agree with Rev Jackson to bring something else to the table besides criticism.

Keith Olbermann Is Suspended? SERIOUSLY!!!???

Let's see.........FOX "News" donates a million to the GOP and they win the mid terms. Keith Olbermann donates a total of about $6800 to 3 Democratic candidates and he gets suspended? Where's the logic in that? Everyone knows MSNBC is nothing wthout Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow. They're the only reason most people tune into MSNBC. So to suspend him for violating NBC News policy is a complete joke!

Congrats To Terri Sewell

Terri Sewell became the first Black woman in the state of Alabama to get elected to congress. Ms. Sewell won the 7th congressional district seat, a seat formerly held by your boy Artur Davis. By the way, has anyone heard from Mr. Davis since his failed attempt to run for governor? I guess trying to pass for white.......... oops my bad......I meant a Republican wasn't such a good idea after all. I'm confident Ms. Sewell will represent the 7th congressional district well.
Congrats Ms. Congresswoman!

Is Spike Lee's Absolut Brooklyn Vodka An Absolut SELL OUT!

WAIT A MINUTE!

Isn't this the same dude that called out Tyler Perry for stereotyping Black people in his movies?
Didn't he call Tyler Perry's movies "coonery and bafoonery"?
Noooo......couldn't be!
This couldn't be the same guy who likes to lecture athletes on how they should responsibly spend their money in the Black community!!!
Nope!
This is obviously some kind of misunderstanding because that guy wouldn't dare promote alcohol in the Black community-especially HIS community of Bedford-Stuyvesant!!
Dang Spike!!
Was the deal that good!?
Yeah......yeah.......I know Absolut is donating Fiddy Gran' of the proceeds to Habitat For Humanity in Brooklyn. But is it really worth it?
If someone else was doing this, Spike would be the first to do to them what I'm about to do to him.
Accuse him of...........SELLING OUT!

Now....G.O.P Is The New Black??

I told you this New Black thing is getting out of control. Now, Black Conservatives are joining in on the fad. I know that we as a people aren't monolithic. We come from different backgrounds with different life experiences. But shouldn't we all defend the commercialization of our race as if it's the latest techno gadget that can be purchased at your nearest Apple store?
Does the Black Conservative wing of the GOP think this is going entice blacks to leave the Democratic party? They like to say the Democratic party take black voters for granted and that we blindly support the party line. In some ways I agree but in many ways I beg to differ. I believe many Blacks just recognize fakeness when they see it and this billboard is exactly that.......FAKE!
This is the same group that like to remind us Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.was a Republican. That is true, however this isn't Dr. King's Republican party. Matter of fact, during the early days of the Civil Rights movement, many Southern Whites formed the Dixiecrats, (a movement similar to today's Tea Party) led by Strom Thurmond because the Democrats were too soft on Segregation. Those Dixiecrats later formed the modern day GOP. So for all of you Black Conservatives reading this blog (and I know for a FACT that you do), PLEASE read up on your party's history before you start trying to pull a fast one on our people by buying billboards such as this one in Houston, Tx.

The GOP isn't the New Black! It's actually the Old White!!

POLLS!!!

I love politics but if there's one thing that drives me crazy is all of these pundits talking about the latest polls.
And it's always the same polling services that are quoted.
 Who are they polling?
Why hasn't anyone called me to ask who I'M  voting for?
Who decides who will get called?

I don't buy all of these polling numbers and neither should you. Don't allow these poll numbers to deter you from exercising your civic duty.

Go vote and be counted!

This Is Why You Should Vote On November 2nd

The Humor Of The Juan Williams Story

I haven't paid much attention to the Juan Williams story because it's so funny to me, that I can't even sit still long enough to absorb the story. Ladies and gentlemen, Juan Williams is a product of his environment and by that I mean this. Some time ago......YEARS ago when I was married, I used to hang with guys who were single. Eventually, hanging with single guys caused me to start thinking like a single man and now I AM a single man (for now). So when Juan Williams got on FOX "News" and said whenever he see a Muslim in Muslim Garb (clothes) on an airplane, he gets suspicious, afraid, scared or whatever he said. I knew he wouldn't understand it when people questioned his statement. Juan Williams couldn't possibly view that comment as racist because he's surrounded by people on a daily basis that view the world in racial overtones.

How would Mr. Williams feel if someone said to him, whenever they see a black man walking towards them, they get suspicious?
How would Mr. Williams feel if someone said to him, whenever they see a black man in a suit on FOX "News", not willing to take a strong stand against bootleg, biased, racist, journalism they think he is a Sambo?
I imagine he would get offended. But he doesn't think a company that signs his paycheck should terminate him for saying thngs that their core audience members think is outside the views of mainstream America?
JUAN PLEASE!!!!!!!!! (Juan was not the word I wanted to use but since I no longer use the N- word, JUAN seemed like a perfect fit).

The people who hi-jacked planes on 9/11 weren't dressed in Muslim Garb. The terrorist/racist who blew up the Morrow building in Oklahoma City in 1995 wasn't wearing a Klan robe. So how could he possibly be nervous because of someone's appearance?
And that's the humor in this entire story, the fact that Juan Williams of all people would make such an idiotic comment and fail to understand the repercussions. But I guess when you work at FOX "News", you're used to saying whatever you want and not being held accountable for it.

If Juan Williams was half the man everyone claims he is, why didn't he protest the abrupt firing of Dr.Marc Lamont Hill http://www.marclamonthill.com/ last year?

Must See Video Of My New Hero!

Fox "News" has prided themselves on being Fair & Balanced. Of course any person with a working brain know that's a LIE!  Monday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sachin Chedda, the local Democratic Chairman was conducting a meeting when he spotted a Fox "News" crew camping out in the back of the room. That's when things got interesting. For the first time EVER a Democrat called them out and it was all caught on tape.
Check it out!

Rest In Peace Mr.Tommy Wrenn

I've read so many books on the Civil Rights movement, I should be a historian at the Civil Rights Institute. That's not a bad idea, maybe I should go volunteer when I finish this book. But it doesn't matter how many books I've read, there was no substitute for talking to Mr. Tommy Wrenn as I often did when I was downtown at Green Acres (chicken spot) or at Magic City Barber Shop getting a fresh cut. Mr.Wrenn, Mr. Percy Hornbuckle and a few other "old timers" could talk for hours about the movement and just about anything else.
This week Mr Wrenn died of a heart attack shortly after giving a speech at Southeastern Bible College here in Birmingham. He was a great man. He served his country at a time when his country wouldn't serve him.
  He was Foot Soldier!(http://www.footsoldier.uga.edu/
He would go to towns and set up routes for protest marchers before Dr. King and others arrived. He and other men would patrol black neighborhoods throughout the city, making sure the Klan knew, "You come down dis street, we shootin' "as he would say. There are so many things I could tell you about this man but there isn't enough space on this blog or enough words in my vocabulary to describe exactly what Mr. Wrenn meant to the city of Birmingham and the movement. Mr. Wrenn will be definitely be missed.
Tommy Wrenn was 78 years old.

Go To Parent/Teacher Meeting or Go To Jail

Detroit has one of the highest high school dropout rates in the country. The truancy rate is through the roof and finally somebody has had enough. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy introduced a plan to the city council that would put parents in jail for not attending parent/ teacher meetings and I support her 100%. It's unfortunate that such drastic measure has to be taken, but something had to be done. I for one can't understand how a parent wouldn't be involved in every aspect of their child's education, from meeting their teachers to knowing their schedule. Not sure, if the city council will approve the plan but at least it will get the attention of parents who has no clue where their child is during school hours.
Good luck Ms. Worthy!

Black Bloggers Under Attack

For years, mainstream media has been dominated by people who don't look like me. Therefore issues that concern me rarely if ever get addressed. Blogging has opened up an avenue for people like myself and others to share information that you won't see on your nightly news. Black bloggers in particular have taken advantage of this avenue. The diversity within the black blogging community is amazing. I strongly suggest you check out ALL of the blogs listed on my blogroll to see what I mean.

Last week, the President invited some of the top Black bloggers to the White House..........I assume my invite got lost in the mail. The meeting was an effort by the White House to reach Black voters to make sure they know how important this mid-term election is. Although a few Black bloggers had concerns that the White House was using them (something I TOTALLY disagree with), the effort and invite was long overdue. Many Black blogs have hundreds of followers who will log on to that blog to find out what's going on before they will a news site. So the effort by the White House was a smart move.

CUE THE FAKE OUTRAGE FROM CONSERVATIVES!

It seems like anytime this President has a meeting with more than 2 or 3 black people, conservatives lose their minds. "SEE, I TOLD YOU HE WAS A RACIST". That was the general theme of the comments posted by people on most sites(New York Times), that objected to the invitation. While I was reading some of the hateful things people were saying, it reminded me of a conversation I had a few years ago with a former co-worker. He said, "Mod, can I ask you a question without you getting offended?" I said, "Sure, as long as I can answer without YOU getting offended." He agreed, then asked me the question.
"Mod, why is there a Black Entertainment Television and a Black Miss America and a Black magazines and stuff?"
I answered by explaining to him that when I look at shows like Everybody Loves Raymond, I can't relate because the characters are corny to me. When I watch the commercials on tv, there aren't any products that cater to my needs. When I look at the Miss America pageants, there may be ONE Black woman and she is normally so light skinned, she can pass for white. When I look at People's magazine list of the 100 most beautiful women, besides Halle Berry and Beyonce, I don't see anyone else that I find attractive. So that's why you have a Black Entertainment Television and Black Miss America and magazines and everything else. After thinking about it for a few minutes, he said, "Mod, I never thought of it that way."

I wonder if the people who are criticizing the President for inviting Black bloggers to the White House ever considered how they would feel if they turned on the television and saw a daily press conference and every reporter in the room was Black........ with the exception of the one token white reporter. I wonder how that would make them feel.
Would they feel like they were taken seriously in this country?
Would they feel like their voice was being heard?
Would they feel like their concerns were getting addressed?
Would they just sit back and say nothing about it for 40 plus years?
NO, they wouldn't!
Yet, when a small group of bloggers get an invite to the White House, they come under attack.
Ok, I will chill because I could go on and on about this one. I guarantee you, if the GOP/Tea Party doesn't take over Congress this mid-term, look for the conservative echo chamber to come after Black bloggers the way they did ACORN. But they better come correct, because we fight back. Hopefully, the White House won't hang us out to dry the way they did ACORN.

The Board Room Jam Of The Week

Congrats Ralph Jones Jr.

Mr. Jones is a 16-year-old freshman at FAMU. No, that's not a typo, he actually is 16-years-old. The Atlanta native chose FAMU over Stanford, Harvard and other Ivy League schools. Now, he's getting some negative feedback because of his decision. There are those who think he is throwing his future down the drain by attendting an HBCU. I won't waste time or energy giving my opinion on those people. I will simply say, we support and congratulate you Ralph Jones Jr.

Keep Your Head Up Boris Kodjoe

I've always been a big fan of this brotha. He's had a nice career in Hollywood, he doesn't take bad roles in movies and although I'm sure there are plenty of women dying to throw their lace boy shorts at him,you don't hear any crazy stuff about him cheating on his wife. It was recently reported that he ran into a little drama with the IRS and there are rumors that his new show (Undercovers) may be canceled before the end of it's first season. Let's continue to support this brotha and pray that things turn out ok for him and his family.

You know, if the people at BET wanted to get serious about BLACK ENTERTAINMENT, they would pick up shows like "Undercovers". That way, we wouldn't have to depend on mainstream media for the success of shows with Black people as the main characters.

Antoine Dodson Performs On The BET Hip Hop Awards Show

Am I the only person not shocked that Antoine Dodson was asked to perform on the BET Hip Hop Music Awards? It's makes perfect sense to me that a channel that has no substance to it whatsoever will ask this man to perform on one of it's most highly viewed shows of the year. When I was growing up in the mid 80s, BET was a place where black people went for entertainment. Sure, there were videos on most of the day but there was also BET Nightly News and the Bev Smith Show ( http://www.bevsmithtalks.com/) on the weekends. But I never thought I would see the day when BET would promote, what many people (including myself) think is probably the embarrassing person in all of Black America. But then again, it is BET.

Gay Is The New Black.................Oh No Hell It Ain't!!!!

*30 second blank stare*
Ok everybody, I understand some people are different.
I get it.
I also understand that we live in a more tolerant and open society.
I get that too.
But I be DAM*ED if I'm about to accept this mess.
There is a movement going on, where people are encouraging folks to start wearing these t-shirts saying..........Ok, let's skip the t-shirt for a second.
Why does EVERYTHING have to be the New Black?
Why can't some things be the New Jewish or New something else?
Why does everything have to be compared to the struggles of black people?
Why does every movement have to be compared to the Civil Rights movement?
I'll tell you why, because Jewish people won't allow their past pains and struggles to be commercialized and disrespected. Black folks on the other hand,we could care less. Matter of fact, we criticize those who post blogs like the one I'm posting.
But I don't care!
Criticize me all you want to!
Some people like to make black folks feel like if we disagree with something......say like the Gay Rights movement, we're being hypocritical. If I hear one more "black leader" tell me I shouldn't "disrespect our gay brothas and sistas", I'm going to hit the roof.
Look, I don't have a problem with gay people. Is this when I'm suppose to say, some of my best friends are gay? Sorry, that ain't going to happen.
But I really don't have a problem with "my gay brothas and sistas." I just can't co-sign on the lifestyle.

I read an article today that basically said, Morehouse is turning into Spelman West. There was a "Morehouse Man" dressed like a full grown woman, and nobody has a problem with that? This fine institution that has produced some of the greatest black men this country has ever known has all of a sudden become a haven for gay men to openly dress like women. And somehow, that's cool?
Last night, I turned to the trainwreck known as  the Real Housewives of Atlanta only to see a grown man dressed in a dress that hugged his body. This dude even had the audacity to wear one of those things..........you know the things women wear when they're trying to make their breast like bigger. What do you call those things? Not a bra......but a........ANYWAY..........you get thet point!!!!!!
All of this is going on while young black men are growing up without a father figure in their life. And they are being told this is the New Black?
Man, y'all done bumpch'all (new word) heads if you think I'm going to be silent about this. Look, if you're gay, that's your thang. But I be DAM*ED if I'm about to accept, promote or sit quietly while people say, Gay Is The New Black!
NO SIR!

NO MA'AM!

NOT IN THE BOARD ROOM!

Forget Osama Bin Liden! THIS Man Is The Greatest Threat To This Country!!

I've tried to tell you for months that Glenn Beck is PURPOSELY trying to bring violence to the streets of America. Earlier this summer,I wanted to know if he really believed what he preached, so I challenged myself to watch his show for an entire week. I made it to the first commercial break and vowed to never turn to that channel again. This guy is the biggest fraud in the history of television who exploited his gulliable, uneducated viewers to the tune of $32 million in 2009. Yes, I called them uneducated because no educated person can watch his show and believe the garbage that comes out of his mouth. Oh and please spare me the "I just watch to see what he's gonna say" excuse. Or my favorite, "I want to know what others are thinking."  I'm sorry if this next statement offends you, but if you spend more than 10 minutes with your television on FOX watching Glenn Beck or anybody else on FOX for that matter, you are just as gulliable and uneducated as his viewers.
Ok, I hear ya!
"Well Mod, how do YOU know that his viewers are gulliable and uneducated?"
Cool, glad you asked.
Meet Byron Williams.
Mr. Williams is the right wing terrorist who had explosives, guns and ammunition in his car and got into a shootout with the police when he was pulled over on a California highway back in July. He was on his way to kill members of the Tide Foundation and members of the ACLU, both are "progressive groups" that Glenn Beck routinely attacks on his show.
Now Mr. Williams is speaking to the media from his jail cell and this is some of what he had to say:
(from Media Matters)
*In a separate exchange with Examiner.com’s Ed Walsh, Williams sought to defend Beck from “Obama and the liberals,” whom he said are afraid of Beck “because he often exposes things that are simply forbidden in news.” Williams said that Beck advocates non-violence and that he had already researched the conspiracy theories that informed his alleged plot — before seeing them “confirm[ed]” on Beck’s show.
Similarly, Williams tells Hamilton that “Beck would never say anything about a conspiracy, would never advocate violence. He’ll never do anything … of this nature. But he’ll give you every ounce of evidence that you could possibly need.”
Beck, in particular, he says, is “like a schoolteacher on TV.” Williams tells Hamilton, “You need to go back to June — June of this year, 2010 — and look at all his programs from June, and you’ll see he’s been breaking open some of the most hideous corruption.”*
REALLY!?
Beck is like a schoolteacher!?
Beck knows he has the ear of nut jobs like Williams and he continously promote things that aren't true. He continues to play on the fear of "some" white people that the world is coming to an end because Barack Obama is in the White House. This is why I say, we should stop searching for Osama Bin Liden and start focusing our efforts on domestic terrorists like Byron Williams. These people along with their leader (Beck) are the people who poses the greatest threat to the security of this country.

*Besides, Osama Bin Liden has been dead for years anyway, but that's another blog for another day.

Haiti Still Waiting On $1 Billion In Aid From U.S.

Remember how everyone was so committed to rebuilding Haiti?
Remember how celebrity after celebrity got in front of a television camera vowing to make sure the world "didn't forget about Haiti"?
Where are those people now?
Six months ago the U.S. pledged to send monetary aid to Haiti. Six months later, Haiti is still waiting. I can't understand why is it that this country, REGARDLESS of who is in the White House, always seem to get aid to other countries in time of need. Always seem to come to the defense of other countries when they're being threatened. Always seem to "rescue" them from a "tyrant". But this same country can't show the same type of humanity when it comes to people of color. If Haitians try to come to this country for political asylum, they're turned away. If a country in Africa is being ruled by a murderer who drains his country resources for personal gain, this country turns a blind eye.I can go on and on with this one.
Why is it that nobody is screaming at the top of their lungs about the rape and murder of 100 women a day in Congo.
Why is that!?
There is so much more I can say but I'm tired and really don't feel like going where I was about to go.
Let's just make sure we continue to pray for the people in Haiti.

Memphis Man Shoots Teens Over Sagging Pants

A Memphis man angered by two teenagers who would not pull up their sagging pants shot one in the rear and faces aggravated assault charges. Kenneth E. Bonds, 45, began yelling at the boys to pull up their pants. When the boys ignored him, he called them a couple of fag*ots. Then he told them again to pull up their pants, except this time he used some cuss words and dropped a few more F- bombs. The two teens then began to curse at Mr.Bonds and told him to shut up and go back in his house.

Wrong Move!!!
He went in the house alright. He went in and came back out with a gun. He fired one shot but missed. He fired a couple of more shots, striking one of the boys in the buttocks. Mr. Bonds said he told authorites, he was 45 years old and wasn't going to tolerate a teenager disrespecting him.

Translation: "I'M A GROWN MAN,DOG" (Ced The Entertainer)

Can't say I agree with his Mr.Bonds' actions, but I definitely understand. I am so tired of seeing these young boys (and in some cases, grown men) walking around with their pants around their knees. I'm sure their parents are up in arms over "their babies being shot". But if they would make "their babies" pull up their pants at home, they wouldn't have to worry about running into the Kenneth Bonds of the world.

Two Sisters Serving Life Sentences For Stealing ELEVEN Dollars!!!

I heard about this story some time ago. I never followed up on it because I thought they had been released, but obviously not.
In 1993, Jamie & Gladys Scott were convicted and sentenced to life in prison for stealing $11 dollars during an assault and armed robbery. Although 3 young men originally confessed to the crime, they later retracted their confession and blamed the Scott sisters. Regardless if they are guilty or not guilty of the crime. Regardless if they had an extensive record or no record at all, sentencing ANYONE to to life in prison over $11 dollars is just plain wrong! How can any judge in this country sentence a thief to life in prison when a confessed murderer can get 15 years and be out in 10? Besides, when I think of Armed Robbery,I think of someone taking a lot more money than $11 dollars.
