The Humor Of The Juan Williams Story

I haven't paid much attention to the Juan Williams story because it's so funny to me, that I can't even sit still long enough to absorb the story. Ladies and gentlemen, Juan Williams is a product of his environment and by that I mean this. Some time ago......YEARS ago when I was married, I used to hang with guys who were single. Eventually, hanging with single guys caused me to start thinking like a single man and now I AM a single man (for now). So when Juan Williams got on FOX "News" and said whenever he see a Muslim in Muslim Garb (clothes) on an airplane, he gets suspicious, afraid, scared or whatever he said. I knew he wouldn't understand it when people questioned his statement. Juan Williams couldn't possibly view that comment as racist because he's surrounded by people on a daily basis that view the world in racial overtones.

How would Mr. Williams feel if someone said to him, whenever they see a black man walking towards them, they get suspicious?
How would Mr. Williams feel if someone said to him, whenever they see a black man in a suit on FOX "News", not willing to take a strong stand against bootleg, biased, racist, journalism they think he is a Sambo?
I imagine he would get offended. But he doesn't think a company that signs his paycheck should terminate him for saying thngs that their core audience members think is outside the views of mainstream America?
JUAN PLEASE!!!!!!!!! (Juan was not the word I wanted to use but since I no longer use the N- word, JUAN seemed like a perfect fit).

The people who hi-jacked planes on 9/11 weren't dressed in Muslim Garb. The terrorist/racist who blew up the Morrow building in Oklahoma City in 1995 wasn't wearing a Klan robe. So how could he possibly be nervous because of someone's appearance?
And that's the humor in this entire story, the fact that Juan Williams of all people would make such an idiotic comment and fail to understand the repercussions. But I guess when you work at FOX "News", you're used to saying whatever you want and not being held accountable for it.

If Juan Williams was half the man everyone claims he is, why didn't he protest the abrupt firing of Dr.Marc Lamont Hill http://www.marclamonthill.com/ last year?

Must See Video Of My New Hero!

Fox "News" has prided themselves on being Fair & Balanced. Of course any person with a working brain know that's a LIE!  Monday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sachin Chedda, the local Democratic Chairman was conducting a meeting when he spotted a Fox "News" crew camping out in the back of the room. That's when things got interesting. For the first time EVER a Democrat called them out and it was all caught on tape.
Check it out!

Rest In Peace Mr.Tommy Wrenn

I've read so many books on the Civil Rights movement, I should be a historian at the Civil Rights Institute. That's not a bad idea, maybe I should go volunteer when I finish this book. But it doesn't matter how many books I've read, there was no substitute for talking to Mr. Tommy Wrenn as I often did when I was downtown at Green Acres (chicken spot) or at Magic City Barber Shop getting a fresh cut. Mr.Wrenn, Mr. Percy Hornbuckle and a few other "old timers" could talk for hours about the movement and just about anything else.
This week Mr Wrenn died of a heart attack shortly after giving a speech at Southeastern Bible College here in Birmingham. He was a great man. He served his country at a time when his country wouldn't serve him.
  He was Foot Soldier!(http://www.footsoldier.uga.edu/
He would go to towns and set up routes for protest marchers before Dr. King and others arrived. He and other men would patrol black neighborhoods throughout the city, making sure the Klan knew, "You come down dis street, we shootin' "as he would say. There are so many things I could tell you about this man but there isn't enough space on this blog or enough words in my vocabulary to describe exactly what Mr. Wrenn meant to the city of Birmingham and the movement. Mr. Wrenn will be definitely be missed.
Tommy Wrenn was 78 years old.

Go To Parent/Teacher Meeting or Go To Jail

Detroit has one of the highest high school dropout rates in the country. The truancy rate is through the roof and finally somebody has had enough. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy introduced a plan to the city council that would put parents in jail for not attending parent/ teacher meetings and I support her 100%. It's unfortunate that such drastic measure has to be taken, but something had to be done. I for one can't understand how a parent wouldn't be involved in every aspect of their child's education, from meeting their teachers to knowing their schedule. Not sure, if the city council will approve the plan but at least it will get the attention of parents who has no clue where their child is during school hours.
Good luck Ms. Worthy!

Black Bloggers Under Attack

For years, mainstream media has been dominated by people who don't look like me. Therefore issues that concern me rarely if ever get addressed. Blogging has opened up an avenue for people like myself and others to share information that you won't see on your nightly news. Black bloggers in particular have taken advantage of this avenue. The diversity within the black blogging community is amazing. I strongly suggest you check out ALL of the blogs listed on my blogroll to see what I mean.

Last week, the President invited some of the top Black bloggers to the White House..........I assume my invite got lost in the mail. The meeting was an effort by the White House to reach Black voters to make sure they know how important this mid-term election is. Although a few Black bloggers had concerns that the White House was using them (something I TOTALLY disagree with), the effort and invite was long overdue. Many Black blogs have hundreds of followers who will log on to that blog to find out what's going on before they will a news site. So the effort by the White House was a smart move.

CUE THE FAKE OUTRAGE FROM CONSERVATIVES!

It seems like anytime this President has a meeting with more than 2 or 3 black people, conservatives lose their minds. "SEE, I TOLD YOU HE WAS A RACIST". That was the general theme of the comments posted by people on most sites(New York Times), that objected to the invitation. While I was reading some of the hateful things people were saying, it reminded me of a conversation I had a few years ago with a former co-worker. He said, "Mod, can I ask you a question without you getting offended?" I said, "Sure, as long as I can answer without YOU getting offended." He agreed, then asked me the question.
"Mod, why is there a Black Entertainment Television and a Black Miss America and a Black magazines and stuff?"
I answered by explaining to him that when I look at shows like Everybody Loves Raymond, I can't relate because the characters are corny to me. When I watch the commercials on tv, there aren't any products that cater to my needs. When I look at the Miss America pageants, there may be ONE Black woman and she is normally so light skinned, she can pass for white. When I look at People's magazine list of the 100 most beautiful women, besides Halle Berry and Beyonce, I don't see anyone else that I find attractive. So that's why you have a Black Entertainment Television and Black Miss America and magazines and everything else. After thinking about it for a few minutes, he said, "Mod, I never thought of it that way."

I wonder if the people who are criticizing the President for inviting Black bloggers to the White House ever considered how they would feel if they turned on the television and saw a daily press conference and every reporter in the room was Black........ with the exception of the one token white reporter. I wonder how that would make them feel.
Would they feel like they were taken seriously in this country?
Would they feel like their voice was being heard?
Would they feel like their concerns were getting addressed?
Would they just sit back and say nothing about it for 40 plus years?
NO, they wouldn't!
Yet, when a small group of bloggers get an invite to the White House, they come under attack.
Ok, I will chill because I could go on and on about this one. I guarantee you, if the GOP/Tea Party doesn't take over Congress this mid-term, look for the conservative echo chamber to come after Black bloggers the way they did ACORN. But they better come correct, because we fight back. Hopefully, the White House won't hang us out to dry the way they did ACORN.

The Board Room Jam Of The Week

Congrats Ralph Jones Jr.

Mr. Jones is a 16-year-old freshman at FAMU. No, that's not a typo, he actually is 16-years-old. The Atlanta native chose FAMU over Stanford, Harvard and other Ivy League schools. Now, he's getting some negative feedback because of his decision. There are those who think he is throwing his future down the drain by attendting an HBCU. I won't waste time or energy giving my opinion on those people. I will simply say, we support and congratulate you Ralph Jones Jr.

Keep Your Head Up Boris Kodjoe

I've always been a big fan of this brotha. He's had a nice career in Hollywood, he doesn't take bad roles in movies and although I'm sure there are plenty of women dying to throw their lace boy shorts at him,you don't hear any crazy stuff about him cheating on his wife. It was recently reported that he ran into a little drama with the IRS and there are rumors that his new show (Undercovers) may be canceled before the end of it's first season. Let's continue to support this brotha and pray that things turn out ok for him and his family.

You know, if the people at BET wanted to get serious about BLACK ENTERTAINMENT, they would pick up shows like "Undercovers". That way, we wouldn't have to depend on mainstream media for the success of shows with Black people as the main characters.

Antoine Dodson Performs On The BET Hip Hop Awards Show

Am I the only person not shocked that Antoine Dodson was asked to perform on the BET Hip Hop Music Awards? It's makes perfect sense to me that a channel that has no substance to it whatsoever will ask this man to perform on one of it's most highly viewed shows of the year. When I was growing up in the mid 80s, BET was a place where black people went for entertainment. Sure, there were videos on most of the day but there was also BET Nightly News and the Bev Smith Show ( http://www.bevsmithtalks.com/) on the weekends. But I never thought I would see the day when BET would promote, what many people (including myself) think is probably the embarrassing person in all of Black America. But then again, it is BET.

Gay Is The New Black.................Oh No Hell It Ain't!!!!

*30 second blank stare*
Ok everybody, I understand some people are different.
I get it.
I also understand that we live in a more tolerant and open society.
I get that too.
But I be DAM*ED if I'm about to accept this mess.
There is a movement going on, where people are encouraging folks to start wearing these t-shirts saying..........Ok, let's skip the t-shirt for a second.
Why does EVERYTHING have to be the New Black?
Why can't some things be the New Jewish or New something else?
Why does everything have to be compared to the struggles of black people?
Why does every movement have to be compared to the Civil Rights movement?
I'll tell you why, because Jewish people won't allow their past pains and struggles to be commercialized and disrespected. Black folks on the other hand,we could care less. Matter of fact, we criticize those who post blogs like the one I'm posting.
But I don't care!
Criticize me all you want to!
Some people like to make black folks feel like if we disagree with something......say like the Gay Rights movement, we're being hypocritical. If I hear one more "black leader" tell me I shouldn't "disrespect our gay brothas and sistas", I'm going to hit the roof.
Look, I don't have a problem with gay people. Is this when I'm suppose to say, some of my best friends are gay? Sorry, that ain't going to happen.
But I really don't have a problem with "my gay brothas and sistas." I just can't co-sign on the lifestyle.

I read an article today that basically said, Morehouse is turning into Spelman West. There was a "Morehouse Man" dressed like a full grown woman, and nobody has a problem with that? This fine institution that has produced some of the greatest black men this country has ever known has all of a sudden become a haven for gay men to openly dress like women. And somehow, that's cool?
Last night, I turned to the trainwreck known as  the Real Housewives of Atlanta only to see a grown man dressed in a dress that hugged his body. This dude even had the audacity to wear one of those things..........you know the things women wear when they're trying to make their breast like bigger. What do you call those things? Not a bra......but a........ANYWAY..........you get thet point!!!!!!
All of this is going on while young black men are growing up without a father figure in their life. And they are being told this is the New Black?
Man, y'all done bumpch'all (new word) heads if you think I'm going to be silent about this. Look, if you're gay, that's your thang. But I be DAM*ED if I'm about to accept, promote or sit quietly while people say, Gay Is The New Black!

Forget Osama Bin Liden! THIS Man Is The Greatest Threat To This Country!!

I've tried to tell you for months that Glenn Beck is PURPOSELY trying to bring violence to the streets of America. Earlier this summer,I wanted to know if he really believed what he preached, so I challenged myself to watch his show for an entire week. I made it to the first commercial break and vowed to never turn to that channel again. This guy is the biggest fraud in the history of television who exploited his gulliable, uneducated viewers to the tune of $32 million in 2009. Yes, I called them uneducated because no educated person can watch his show and believe the garbage that comes out of his mouth. Oh and please spare me the "I just watch to see what he's gonna say" excuse. Or my favorite, "I want to know what others are thinking."  I'm sorry if this next statement offends you, but if you spend more than 10 minutes with your television on FOX watching Glenn Beck or anybody else on FOX for that matter, you are just as gulliable and uneducated as his viewers.
Ok, I hear ya!
"Well Mod, how do YOU know that his viewers are gulliable and uneducated?"
Cool, glad you asked.
Meet Byron Williams.
Mr. Williams is the right wing terrorist who had explosives, guns and ammunition in his car and got into a shootout with the police when he was pulled over on a California highway back in July. He was on his way to kill members of the Tide Foundation and members of the ACLU, both are "progressive groups" that Glenn Beck routinely attacks on his show.
Now Mr. Williams is speaking to the media from his jail cell and this is some of what he had to say:
(from Media Matters)
*In a separate exchange with Examiner.com’s Ed Walsh, Williams sought to defend Beck from “Obama and the liberals,” whom he said are afraid of Beck “because he often exposes things that are simply forbidden in news.” Williams said that Beck advocates non-violence and that he had already researched the conspiracy theories that informed his alleged plot — before seeing them “confirm[ed]” on Beck’s show.
Similarly, Williams tells Hamilton that “Beck would never say anything about a conspiracy, would never advocate violence. He’ll never do anything … of this nature. But he’ll give you every ounce of evidence that you could possibly need.”
Beck, in particular, he says, is “like a schoolteacher on TV.” Williams tells Hamilton, “You need to go back to June — June of this year, 2010 — and look at all his programs from June, and you’ll see he’s been breaking open some of the most hideous corruption.”*
REALLY!?
Beck is like a schoolteacher!?
Beck knows he has the ear of nut jobs like Williams and he continously promote things that aren't true. He continues to play on the fear of "some" white people that the world is coming to an end because Barack Obama is in the White House. This is why I say, we should stop searching for Osama Bin Liden and start focusing our efforts on domestic terrorists like Byron Williams. These people along with their leader (Beck) are the people who poses the greatest threat to the security of this country.

*Besides, Osama Bin Liden has been dead for years anyway, but that's another blog for another day.

Haiti Still Waiting On $1 Billion In Aid From U.S.

Remember how everyone was so committed to rebuilding Haiti?
Remember how celebrity after celebrity got in front of a television camera vowing to make sure the world "didn't forget about Haiti"?
Where are those people now?
Six months ago the U.S. pledged to send monetary aid to Haiti. Six months later, Haiti is still waiting. I can't understand why is it that this country, REGARDLESS of who is in the White House, always seem to get aid to other countries in time of need. Always seem to come to the defense of other countries when they're being threatened. Always seem to "rescue" them from a "tyrant". But this same country can't show the same type of humanity when it comes to people of color. If Haitians try to come to this country for political asylum, they're turned away. If a country in Africa is being ruled by a murderer who drains his country resources for personal gain, this country turns a blind eye.I can go on and on with this one.
Why is it that nobody is screaming at the top of their lungs about the rape and murder of 100 women a day in Congo.
Why is that!?
There is so much more I can say but I'm tired and really don't feel like going where I was about to go.
Let's just make sure we continue to pray for the people in Haiti.

Memphis Man Shoots Teens Over Sagging Pants

A Memphis man angered by two teenagers who would not pull up their sagging pants shot one in the rear and faces aggravated assault charges. Kenneth E. Bonds, 45, began yelling at the boys to pull up their pants. When the boys ignored him, he called them a couple of fag*ots. Then he told them again to pull up their pants, except this time he used some cuss words and dropped a few more F- bombs. The two teens then began to curse at Mr.Bonds and told him to shut up and go back in his house.

Wrong Move!!!
He went in the house alright. He went in and came back out with a gun. He fired one shot but missed. He fired a couple of more shots, striking one of the boys in the buttocks. Mr. Bonds said he told authorites, he was 45 years old and wasn't going to tolerate a teenager disrespecting him.

Translation: "I'M A GROWN MAN,DOG" (Ced The Entertainer)

Can't say I agree with his Mr.Bonds' actions, but I definitely understand. I am so tired of seeing these young boys (and in some cases, grown men) walking around with their pants around their knees. I'm sure their parents are up in arms over "their babies being shot". But if they would make "their babies" pull up their pants at home, they wouldn't have to worry about running into the Kenneth Bonds of the world.

Two Sisters Serving Life Sentences For Stealing ELEVEN Dollars!!!

I heard about this story some time ago. I never followed up on it because I thought they had been released, but obviously not.
In 1993, Jamie & Gladys Scott were convicted and sentenced to life in prison for stealing $11 dollars during an assault and armed robbery. Although 3 young men originally confessed to the crime, they later retracted their confession and blamed the Scott sisters. Regardless if they are guilty or not guilty of the crime. Regardless if they had an extensive record or no record at all, sentencing ANYONE to to life in prison over $11 dollars is just plain wrong! How can any judge in this country sentence a thief to life in prison when a confessed murderer can get 15 years and be out in 10? Besides, when I think of Armed Robbery,I think of someone taking a lot more money than $11 dollars.

For more detailed information on this case, go to http://www.itisanewday.com/ .

The 100 Million Dollar "Slave"?

In 2009 Albert Haynesworth (the black guy) signed a 7 year/ 100 million dollar contract. Last year Mr.Haynesworth made 21 million dollars....... TWENTY ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!!
*daydreaming*
Ahhhh.......the things I could do with 21 million dollars:
Give 2.1 million to my church (http://www.theworshipcentercc.org/ )
Pay off my mom's house
Build a fat crib on the lake
Buy that 2011 Merecedes S63 with the AMG package (white)
Take a trip to Cabo,San Lucas
Maybe charter a yacht to the St.Lucia Jazz Festival..............
Ahhhhhh......yes..........21 million dollars.............
*waking up*
My bad.........my bad.........
THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY!!!!!!
Imagine someone willing to pay you that much money to do something you love to do. Now imagine someone asking you to do the exact same thing they are paying you to do but just do it a different way. Would you quit your job?
Would you take the chance of having that contract voided?
Would you refuse and say,"I'm not gonna be somebody's slave."
OR
Would you comply with the demands in your contract that pays you 21 MILLION DOLLARS?
Chances are you are like me and will do just about anything they tell you to do for that amount of money.
But, NOOOOOOOOOO............not Albert Haynesworth!!! He equated having to play a different position on the field to slavery. He equated going through physicals to make sure the team that's paying him that much money get a sound return on their investment to slavery.
It's as if  "some" of these guys are living in another world. Do they not realize there are hundreds of thousands of people out of work? Do they not realize there are millions of people barely getting by on 50k/year and others who would give anything to earn 50k/yr?
To compare playing another position on the football field to slavery should be a slap in the face to every person of color. Mr.Haynesworth represents all that is wrong with today's black athlete. If "some"of these guys would read and study the lives of slaves, they would think twice before comparing their childish temper tantrums to a man or woman who were considered property of others and held against their will.

-Slavery is a system in which people are the property of others. Slaves can be held against their will from the time of their capture, purchase or birth.

Rick Sanchez FIRED From CNN

In a way I saw this coming. Over the last several weeks it seemed like Rick Sanchez was going out of way to be controversial, almost like he was TRYING to get fired. He has recently had back-and-forth spats with Keith Olberman of MSNBC and others in the main stream media. This past week, Sanchez went on the Pete Dominick Show on Sirius XM (great show by the way) and had this to say about Jon Stewart.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with some of  the things he said, but obviously the people at CNN did because they fired him this morning. But I wonder if they fired Sanchez because of these comments OR did they find out he secretly struck a deal to join FOX "news"? If I had to guess,I would go with the latter.
It's no secret that FOX and Conservatives are having a hard time attracting minority viewers and votes. The entire Rick Sanchez thing just strikes me as strange because of the language Sanchez has been using lately,
"Far-left"
"Elitest,Northeast liberals"
That sounds like a line right out of the FOX talking points.

My advice to Mr.Sanchez, check with "My Main Man Michael" (Steele) to see how it feels to be a token or used as a pawn by FOX "news" and the Republican party before you sell out your people.
