Oh No........Not Another Season Of THIS Mess!

Last night marked the return of the trainwreck known as Basketball Wives on VH-1.
Quick question: Why is it called "Basketball Wives" and none of these women are actually married?
Well I take that back, one of them is married but she sees her husband when he wants her to see him.
Is it me or is this the new norm for black women on television?
This mixed with the Real Housewives of Atlanta have set black women back 20 years. At least that's what this older black woman said on a radio show today.
Is this what black women have to do to get a "meaningful" role on television?
See who can become the biggest drama queen?
Shaunie O'Neal has tens of millions of dollars at her disposal and this is what she decides to put her name behind?
I guess when you live in a world as shallow and as fake as Basketball "Wives" do, we shouldn't expect anything more.
Millions of people will tune in to watch this mess this season. Sad thing about it, many of those people are young girls who have the false impression that THIS is the good life.

  1. Mod I co-sign 100% with your post...I was wondering if I was the only one who thought RHOA set black women back...every Thursday night RHOA is a trending topic on Twitter.

  2. Mod, you already know how I feel about this show. (I despise it.) It makes Black women look bad. All of these "wives" shows are pathetic. These types of reality shows are the new minstrel shows put on my networks who only want ratings and money, and they do not care not one bit how it represents women (especially Black women).

  3. Thanks for stopping by JJ! It's sad but this is what sells nowadays. With shows like these, the chances of seeing more Hawthornes or other shows where blacks are featured as the main characters are slim and none.
What's up Dea!-Yes, we've discussed this a time or two before.
    Thanks for the feedback!
