The Sad And Pathetic Fall Of Artur Davis

I apologize for the volume!

I'm not the one to say I told you so..........but.........I TOLD YA SO!!!!!!!!
A couple of months ago I called this race exactly as it happened. I told you this guy had NO chance to become Governor of this state. I also was one of only a handful of people who predicted Artur Davis wouldn't even win the Democratic nomination. Last night, not only did he lose but he got EMBARRASSED!!!!! He lost his own district by a margin of 30 points. Statewide,he recieved less than 40% of the vote. Today, many of his supporters are spinning his defeat as "a low voter turnout." While the turnout WAS low, many people I know went to the polls specifically to vote AGAINST Artur Davis.
It's really a sad and pathetic story.
A couple of years ago this guy was next in line to be the biggest star in the Democratic party. He had everything going for him. He was Harvard educated,he had the backing of all the black political groups in Alabama,he had a beautiful wife and he was a good friend of the President. HE HAD IT MADE!!!!
But then came the Healthcare Reform bill. Davis saw an opportunity to go after White Conservative votes here in Alabama. He had many people flooding his facebook page telling him how courageous he was to stand up against "Obamacare". Many of those people (who voted in the Republican primary)said they would support his efforts for Governor if he voted NO. Well,he voted NO! Matter of fact he was the only member of the CBC to vote NO!
Thinking that he had the "black vote" on lock,he started doing things that he thought would surely make him Alabama's first black Governor. Mr.Davis thought all he had to do was kiss a few white babies, talk politics on the back of a pickup truck in rural Alabama, play the race card against his white opponent at the end and everything would work out just fine. WRONG!!!! His white opponent,Ron Sparks, met with those same black political groups that Artur Davis ignored, explained the situation Davis was trying to make an issue out of and ASKED for their support. Artur Davis on the other hand, thought people didn't need those groups to win an election. In some states, that is correct, but not in Alabama. Many of you know I can't stand the term "Black Leaders".But one thing about certain "Black Leaders" in these older(and younger),seasoned, savvy black political groups in Alabama. They may not help you WIN,but they sure can help you lose. And last night Artur Davis found that out the hard way.

  1. I couldn't have said it any better! What would make make him think that voting against the healthcare reform bill would be a good idea? We all know the answer to that question but come on...how could such a smart man make such a dumb move. Sidebar: He was on my flight from Atlanta to Birmingham last week...he looked rather depressed if you ask me. lol

  2. I'm from the Black Belt area, which is in his district. It is one of the poorest regions in the nation and he voted against health care reform!! Then the hypocrite had the nerve to use President Obama's name in his ads. Mr. Davis got just what he deserved. I had hoped he would be the first black governor of the state of Alabama. But you can't bite the hand that feeds you. He can chalk it up to a lesson learned and try again in four years.
