Excuse Me While I Rant

*Excuse me while I rant for a minute*

Before I start,I want to welcome those of you who stick your head in The Board Room then sneak back to your little conservative blog/talk show and discuss what I wrote. YES,I'M TALKING TO YOU!!!!! Betcha didn't think I knew that, huh? Yes,I'm fully aware of it and I appreciate the free publicity, but FYI,in about.....ohhh......I say another year, you gonna have to cut me a check player,or at least have me on your show so I can defend myself.
*back to the blog*
I am sick and tired of the main stream media giving Glenn Beck a free pass.
I am sick and tired of people saying,"just ignore him."
He may be a racist but the last thing you should do is ignore him. This man attracted almost 500,000 people this past weekend to his "Restoring Honor" rally. The media accepted his spin of it as being more of a "religious event" than a political event.
Ummmm,whatever!!!! It's like the old saying....."You can't Bull/S a Bull/S'er.......
These people were there for one reason and one reason only,THEY HATE PRESIDENT OBAMA! Speaking of the President,is it me or does the President appear that he has given up and decided to just be a one termer? Real Talk.......I can't blame him if he does. I mean, after the way these people have been attacking him and nobody is coming to his defense, I would probably not seek re-election either. Then again, I probably would have put my hands on Glenn Beck,Rush Limbaugh and Sara Palin by now too. Yeah.....I know,I know.......you're not supposed to hit a woman. I wouldn't touch her but I would make a couple of phone calls to Shaniqua,Fon'Quesha and
Sha'ne-ne and nem. I'm sure they would love to meet Mrs. Palin.
I saw this weekend where the President addressed the "Muslim Issue". Why in the world does this man have to keep answering that question? If all Muslims are bad because the terrorist that attacked America on 9/11 were Muslim, then what does that make all white people who are Christians in this country? Before you start with the bashing of Christians, slow your roll,I'M A CHRISTIAN!!!! But the greatest terrorists known to man-kind were the Ku Klux Klan and they tried to use Christianity to justify their actions. What's the difference?
I hope you guys pay close attention to what's going on in this country because this man(Beck) is PURPOSEDLY creating the Perfect Storm which might cause a catastrophic event to take place in this country. I pray that's not the case but all you have to do is study history to realize this movie has been played before.
*this concludes my rant*

R.I.P. Dr.William P. Foster

Dr.William P.Foster, founder of FAMUs "Marching 100s",passed away this weekend at the age of 91. Some of you may not fully understand or appreciate the influence Dr.Foster had on HBCUs but his impact can't be measured in numbers.Even before I set foot on the practice field as a "crab"(Freshman)at Alabama State,I was familiar with Dr.Foster, the "Slow One","Bringing It On" and "Bringing It Off" as shown in the video clips below.
Here's a brief bio of Dr.Foster,
*Courtesy of the Marching 100 Alumni Band Association,Inc.*

-Dr. William P. Foster: Over 50 years ago, a young man entered the campus of Florida A&M, determined to make himself and the band program the best in the nation.

Armed with less than 30 musicians, Dr. Foster had his sights set on putting 100 marching young men on the gridiron, so he nicknamed the band the "Marching 100."

After growing to a little over 100 in 1950, the band started expanding its performance repertoire, adding a fast march (known as "fast one," to be later renamed the "Rattler"), the death march (known as "Slow One"), and a dance routine to the tune of Alexander's Rag Time Band.

Fast-forward to the 60's, where he took the "100" to the Superbowl, and the airwaves, being featured on PBS, and later being televised on all of the major networks in the United States!

He built what is known as the best marching band in the land, validated by the selection of the John Phillip Sousa Foundation as the 4th recipient of the Sudler Award in 1985, one that no other HBCU has received to date.

Dr. Foster retired in 1998, but he has not been forgotten, especially by those who have had the honor and privilege of being one of his pupils. It matters not whether you were a music major, drum major, or business major, he was a teacher, first and foremost, and we've never forgotten it.

Dr. Foster is the epitome of coolness under pressure, and his personality and leadership are a part of those who performed under him.

Before leaving the old band room prior to our home games, Dr. Foster would stand on the podium, facing all of his troops and say, "I think the "100" is ready."

If he could think it, then it was duly noted, and we performed like a band under his leadership was supposed to.

Black Man Attacked For "Looking" Like A Muslim

A black man who just happened to be walking by Ground Zero at the time of a klan rally(my bad)"Anti-Muslim" rally, was verbally and almost physically assaulted because he looked "Muslimish". He was wearing a sports cap that was mistaken for a.......(What do you call those things muslims wear on their heads?)..........yeah,one of those. So these fine upstanding citizens just assumed he was a Muslim, but he wasn't. Matter of fact,I think he agreed with them about having a Mosque near Ground Zero. Look, first of all,it's going a community center for Musim-Americans,NOT a Mosque. THERE'S A BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!
But I wonder how many of these "patriotic Americans" know that there is a place inside the PENTAGON where Muslims go pray. Is that by definition considered a Mosque? I don't know,I'm just asking. I would think since these people are so concerned about the memory of 9/11 victims, they would be protesting at the Pentagon too. Maybe their leaders,Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh haven't given them their marching orders yet. These people are so blinded by their racism and hatred for the President that they can't control themselves. They are so afraid that "the Muslims are coming" they jumped at the opportunity to harass this ONE man. Hmmm,I wonder if they would have jumped at someone who was wearing a Fruit Of Islam uniform...........just thinking out loud. Anyway, check out the video.

Two 11 Year Old Girls Missing In California

From News One
Police are searching for two 11-year-old girls who were reported missing after apparently sneaking out of a home in Pacoima.

Anna Lopez and Ruby Zapata left home without permission to go to Pacoima Park around 9 p.m. Thursday, according to Los Angeles Police Department officials.

The girls did not return home and were reported missing around 2 a.m. Friday.

Anna Lopez stands about 5′1″, weighs around 100 pounds, has brown hair, brown eyes and was wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and blue/black shoes. Ruby Zapata stands about 4 feet, weighs around 100 pounds, black hair, green eyes, and was wearing a grey tank top, black “skinny” jeans and white converse shoes.

Anyone with information on the girls’ whereabouts is asked to contact the LAPD’s Foothill Police Station at (818) 756-886.

ANOTHER Senseless Chicago Murder

A few weeks ago in Chicago,8 year old Tanaja Stokes was jumping rope in front of her home with friends. It was a perfect day until this coward pictured above showed up. Steshawn Brisco and another suspect decided to start shooting, killing the 8 year old girl.
When asked did he think about the children who were outside playing before he started shooting,Brisco told police,"we didn't care if the girls were outside playing,we let the whole .40 clip go."
The only thing I can say after that is........WOW!!!
I have a 7 year old daughter. I couldn't imagine this happening to my child!

The End Of White America?

Right after the election of Barack Obama, there was an interesting article in
The Atlantic magazine titled,"The End Of White America?". It gives an interesting perspective on what a President Barack Obama America would do to "mainstream America" and the erosion of white culture in general. When I first read it,it seemed far-fetched to think some people actually believe his presidency would threaten their way of life. But with the rise of the tea party and the growing hate rhetoric from the radical right,it's obvious this article was a sneak peek of things to come. I will go to my grave convinced most white people who dislike this President, dislike him simply because of his skin color and NOT his policies. Sure, they disguise it as Obamacare, socialism, government takeovers and all kind of other bogus stuff. And to the surprise of absolutely nobody(maybe with the exception of Michael Steele and Ron Christie) this mosque controversy has started the "Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim" thing again. I have always said that those same white people would have NO problem with a Barack Hussein Obama being the superstar on their favorite sports team. But since he chose to be an academic superstar and aspire to be the POTUS,then there's something wrong with him,he's not "one of us".And if I hear one more person scream about taking THEIR country back,I'm gonna chop somebody in the throat. What exactly does that mean anyway? I guess I need to read this article again to find out. I encourage you to do the same.

No Sympathy For Shaquan Duley Here

Last week,Shaquan Duley smothered her two kids, strapped them in their car seats and rolled her car into a river with the kids inside. Now some people are blaming "the system" and saying SHE'S the victim. I'm sorry,I just can't do it. There's no excuse for a parent killing their child especially if their child is a baby.I know times are hard, especially hard for a mother who has no income and the dad is nowhere to be found. But I know plenty of women who have been in that same situation and killing their kids was the last thing on their minds.
I'm sure she will have a "mental health evaluation" and so on and so forth. But after they conduct those tests, and have her trial, they should strap her in a car and roll HER behind into that same river she rolled her kids into.
I know that sounds harsh but I'm sorry, there will be NO sympathy for Shaquan Duley here.

Payday Loans

Have you noticed that you can drive through any predominately black neighborhood in this country and find at least 10 payday loan places within a 2 block radius? These companies aggressively advertise on black radio with catchy jingles to get the attention of folks who are in need of financial assistance.
(singing) "Get your title back at Title Max".
Sounds corny but it's working. Lately I've noticed brand new buildings popping up everywhere. Some even have drive thru windows. Some have decided to stay open 24 hours "to better serve you". They offer loans with no credit check and will delay your payment for 30 days(for your convience) all to get you in the door.Once you're in the door, they smile and give you material about how they're there to help you "get through these hard times".Unfortunately, many people fall victim to these(financial)death traps because they've lost their jobs and have fallen behind on their bills.
*Of course, there are some who get a payday loan because they want extra money to buy clothes or get some rims-(that's another blog)*

I call payday loans(financial)death traps because one loan place will set up next to another and another right next to that one and then there's one across the street and before you get to the traffic light, there's another one. What happens then is when you can't pay one of them back on time, you go to one of the others to get the money and pretty soon, you're trapped. But that's the whole point of payday loans. It's not set up to help YOU. It's set up to help THEM make money. Where else could you get a loan for $500 and end up paying back $2000 or more? It's a big hustle!

But you know what,I really don't fault the payday loans. No,I fault our local officials who allow it to happen. The neighborhood presidents, city council members, Mayors.....I fault them. THEY have the authority to limit how many can be placed in a certain area. THEY are the ones who can say NO-you're NOT putting another payday loan HERE. Build a center that allows people to get info on how to better take care of their finances. Build a McDonald's where kids can work. Build something constructive but you WILL NOT build another payday loan in THIS neighborhood under my watch.
Please challenge your local officials to stop the madness. Also,if you're one of the people trapped in this vicious cycle, just know there are plenty of people who has been where you are and got out of the trap. It took a minute and some sacrifices but they did get out. But first YOU have to decide that this is not how you're going to live. YOU have to say,I'm better than this robbing Peter to pay Paul mentality.YOU have to finally say,I will not be a modern day slave. Because that's exactly what it is.......MODERN DAY SLAVERY! I'm not speaking for a third party,I'm speaking for myself. I've been in that trap before and it's no fun.

I originally wrote this blog back in January.I updated it and posted it again because as I told you last week,The Board Room is about to go in a different direction. We are about to start taking back our communities, our streets, our children and controlling our own destiny.
In other words,The Board Room is about to go to the next level.
I hope you're ready!!!

The Board Room Health Tip Of The Week

Courtesy of BlackDoctor.org

(BlackDoctor.org) – Glaucoma occurs about five times more often in African-Americans, and blindness from glaucoma is about six times more common. In addition to this higher frequency, glaucoma often occurs earlier in life in African-Americans—on average, about 10 years earlier than in other ethnic populations.

The disease is often a silent killer — it has no obvious symptoms early on. In fact, as many as half of all people with glaucoma do not know they have the condition. Regular eye exams are important for diagnosing and treating glaucoma — and early treatment is key to saving eyesight.

Glaucoma is actually a group of diseases that can harm the optic nerve, the part of the eye that transmits images to the brain. In most cases, glaucoma occurs when there is an increase in the normal fluid pressure inside the eye. That pressure can damage the optic nerve, causing vision loss and blindness.

Doctors don’t know what causes glaucoma, but they have noted certain risk factors:

• Being 65 years of age or older
• Having a family history of glaucoma
• Being of African, Asian, or Spanish descent
• Being nearsighted or farsighted
• Having had a past eye injury

The Types of Glaucoma

Open-angle glaucoma is the most prevalent type of this eye disease, but it’s not the only one:

• Open-angle glaucoma. In healthy eyes, eye fluids flow into, out of, and around the eye at the open angle where the cornea and iris meet; this angle acts like a drain. Open-angle glaucoma occurs when the fluid doesn’t flow out easily from this drain, causing a build-up of fluid pressure in the eye. That pressure can damage the optic nerve, leading to decreased peripheral (side) vision and vision loss. In the early stages of the disease, people with this type of glaucoma have no symptoms — no pain or changes in vision. They may not know they have it until the disease progresses and their peripheral vision becomes affected. Over time, they lose more of their side vision and can eventually become blind.
• Normal-tension glaucoma. Sometimes damage to the optic nerve can occur in people with normal eye pressure. Doctors are not sure why this happens, but risk factors for normal-tension glaucoma, also called low-tension glaucoma, include a family history of any type of glaucoma or a history of cardiovascular disease.
• Angle-closure glaucoma. This rare type of glaucoma happens when the iris blocks the drain part of the eye. Because eye fluid cannot drain out, pressure can build very quickly, leading to vision loss. Symptoms of angle-closure glaucoma include headache, eye pain, nausea, redness of the eye, and blurred vision. Anyone with these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention. Without treatment, you can lose your sight in just one or two days.
• Congenital glaucoma. This rare, sometimes inherited, type of glaucoma is present at birth. A defect in the drainage system of the eye builds fluid pressure inside the eye, damaging the optic nerve. Symptoms of congenital glaucoma are a cloudy-looking cornea, sensitivity to light, and excessive tearing.

What Is Secondary Glaucoma?

Secondary glaucoma can develop because of an eye injury, eye surgery, inflammation, certain eye tumors, or advanced cataracts. This type of glaucoma can also be a side effect of some drugs, such as corticosteroids. Types of secondary glaucoma include:

• Pigmentary glaucoma. Pigment granules from the back of the iris break off and block eye drainage.
• Pseudoexfoliative glaucoma. A flaky material peels off the outer layer of the eye’s lens and impedes proper drainage.
• Traumatic glaucoma. Caused by an eye injury, this glaucoma can occur immediately afterwards or years later.
• Neovascular glaucoma. Often linked to diabetes, neovascular glaucoma is marked by the abnormal formation of blood vessels that grow over the iris, blocking drainage.
• Iridocorneal endothelial syndrome. This rare form of glaucoma usually occurs in one eye, as cells from the back surface of the cornea spread over its drainage area.

How Glaucoma Is Diagnosed

Because glaucoma symptoms are usually not noticeable until the disease has progressed, early detection and screenings are essential. It can be such a gradual thing that you could be asymptomatic until you lose most of your vision.

Adults who have no signs or risks for eye disease such as glaucoma should get a baseline eye screening exam starting at age 40. If you have any risk factors for glaucoma, screenings should be done every two years, regardless of your age. People age 65 and older should see their eye doctor every one to two years to check for glaucoma and other eye diseases, because risk increases with age.

During a glaucoma exam, your doctor will conduct a tonometry test to measure the pressure inside the eye, as well as an ophthalmoscopy to look at the inside of the eye — the optic nerve in particular. The eye exam may also include a visual acuity test to determine how well you see at various distances, a visual field test to measures your peripheral vision, and a pachymetry test, which measures the thickness of your cornea.

Ways You Can Manage Glaucoma

In the early stages of glaucoma, medication in the form of eye drops or pills can help. Medication can lower pressure in the eye by causing the eye to make less fluid or by helping fluid drain from the eye.

If medication doesn’t help, doctors may recommend surgery. One type of surgery for glaucoma is laser trabeculoplasty, in which a laser is used to stretch the drainage holes to help fluid drain better. If laser surgery isn’t effective, or if the problem occurs again over time, doctors may suggest conventional surgery. This procedure is called filtering microsurgery and involves making a new drainage hole for fluid to leave the eye.

With early detection and treatment, many patients with glaucoma can retain their eyesight and ward off vision impairment.

The Untold Story of Mitrice Richardson

I'm sure all of you have heard of Natalie Holloway, the young lady from my hometown of Birmingham,Al.who disappeared in Aruba a couple of years ago.Despite the fact it continues to get local and national coverage, her case still hasn't been solved.
But how many of you have ever heard of Mitrice Richardson, the 25 year old grad student with a 4.0 GPA at Cal State-Fullerton?
You haven't heard of this accomplished, ambitious, beautiful daughter, friend and sorority sister?
That's ok don't feel bad,not too many people have because you won't find her story on Larry King or Nancy Grace. You won't see her story in your local newspaper or watch a movie about her life on lifetime. So let me share it with you here in The Board Room.
On the night of Sept.17,2009,Mitrice went to a restaurant in Malibu to have dinner. According to friends,Mitrice forgot her debit card and like many of us,didn't carry cash on her. Not believeing her story, the owner decided to make a CITIZEN'S ARREST and then proceded to call the police. Mitrice was arrested for not being able to pay her tab of $89........YES,I said......EIGHTY-NINE DOLLARS!!! After being arrested and taken to jail, she was "allegedly" released in the early morning hours while it was still dark. I say "allegedly" because no one saw Mitrice after that. There were reports of Mitrice being spotted in Vegas and all kind of other crazy stuff that I don't even feel comfortable talking about here in The Board Room.

My point in bringing up Natalie Holloway was to highlight the fact that mainstream news outlets treated her case like a NATIONAL EMERGENCY and none of those outlets have given more than a solid hour to the disappearance of Mitrice Richardson. Please understand,in no way am I downplaying the importance of finding out exactly what happened to Natalie Holloway. Nor am I blaming the media for covering her story the way they did.I just want to hightlight the fact that we need outlets that inform US about OUR Natalie Holloways or shall I say,OUR Mitrice Richardsons. If there was a national outcry for Mitrice Richardson like there was for Natalie Holloway, maybe someone would have come forward with information about exactly what happened the night she was arrested and released.Instead, her family had to go almost a year without knowing what happened to her. I say a year because unfortunately Mitrice's body was found today.
It wasn't found outside a strip club in Las Vegas.
It wasn't found in some crack house in L.A.
It was found in a Malibu Canyon, not too far from the Malibu jail where she was "allegedly" released.
Her father,Michael Richardson, was irate that nobody contacted him or his family to let them know her remains had been found. My bad, they DID leave him a voicemail and the sheriff called him TEN MINUTES before a news conference to announce that the remains they found, were indeed those of his daughter. When asked why it was handled that way, this was the response of the sheriff.

This is a very sad story that I hope you will share with others. This highlights the need for an outlet that covers OUR stories. There are too many celebrities with deep pockets for us not to have our own network.
Sorry,BET doesn't count.
In the past,I have covered things here in The Board Room, that as I look back on it,really didn't deserve covering. That's about to change. Don't get it twisted,I will still discuss social and political issues, but I am determined to make The Board Room a place where stories like Mitrice Richardson's story doesn't go untold.

The Antoine Dodson Tragedy

I can go so many different places with this. The outfit Mr.Dodson is wearing, the girl in the background with the BLUE hair, the use of profanity while holding the baby. I really could dissect this video. But there is something on my heart that won't allow me to make a bigger mockery out of this tragedy we know as the Antoine Dodson video. Many have been upset with the media's portrayal of Mr.Dodson. Some have said, the media shouldn't put people like Mr.Dodson in front of a camera because it reflects badly on black people. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't.It all depends on how you let other things dictate your self worth. But the question is,can we really blame the media?
Can we blame "some" white people for having this fixation on Antoine Dodson,as if he represents the behavior of all black people? Personally,I think the video of Mr.Dodson should be shown in every classroom in every inner city in this country. Then right after Mr.Dodson's video is shown, show a video of President Obama being sworn in as the 44th POTUS.If that doesn't inspire anyone,I don't know what will.
The sad reality of the Antoine Dodson story is,Mr.Dodson doesn't see anything wrong with the video. Matter of fact,he said on the Tom Joyner Morning Show,he is enjoying his new found celebrity status. He has set up a twitter account. He has a website where he is asking people to donate money to get his family out of the projects. He is doing "speak engagements in front of white people"(his words not mines)and he has his own ringtone.
GREAT! Congratualtions Mr.Dodson! I'm sure the reality show is next.
But can someone tell me if they have caught the guy who was trying to rape his sister? Has anyone reported the attempted rape of 2 other women in that same area? Probably not, because everyone is singing "hide yo wife, hide yo kids." I pray for the day when some of our people will wake up and realize they are better than their current situation. Unfortunately, many will never do so and that's part of the Antoine Dodson tragedy.

Should Black People Accept Gay Marriage?

"Will Blacks Accept Gay Marriage?"
This was the question posted on one of my favorite websites,The Root. I didn't bother reading the article because frankly,I'm tired of people comparing Gay Rights to Civil Rights. I'm tired of hearing "black leaders" say they can't support a ban on gay marriage because they're against ANY form of discrimination.
Hmmmm,REALLY!?
Well, good for them and good for anyone else who supports gay marriage. But as for me,the answer to the above question is NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO,I won't support a man marrying another man or a woman marrying another woman. I recognize ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN as the only two people able to enter into a marriage. I'm not going to hammer anyone in the head with scriptures or anything like that(although I don't mind doing so)but I believe that's the way God ordained it and that's the way it should be. In my opinion,if it were meant for two men to marry or two women to marry, they would be able to reproduce life. That may sound a tad bit silly but it really isn't when you think about it.
There is absolutely NOTHING anyone can say or do to make me accept Gay Marriage.....Point Blank.....PERIOD.
I'm sure I have offended some friends and followers of this blog, but you should know by now that being "politically correct" really isn't my thing.
What are your thoughts?

I Love Michelle Obama..........BUT..............

I know some of you may not like this one but this has been on my mind for a few days. I LOVE Michelle Obama. I think she is the epitome of what a black woman SHOULD be. I know we wouldn't have a President Barack Obama if we didn't have a Michelle Obama.

BUT

Can someone please explain to me why she wasn't with her husband for his birthday. How do you schedule a trip to SPAIN during the week of his birthday? It's not like she was going on a business trip or anything. Sure, she took her daughter with her but your husband is the President of The United States Of America. You are the FIRST Black First Lady and you decide to take a trip to SPAIN and allow him to spend his birthday ALONE!? My bad......he wasn't alone,he flew to Chicago to have dinner with Oprah Winfrey.
Look,I ain't saying something is wrong with that picture,BUT..........SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE. I don't know if they're having marital issues or not but I do know, the appeararnce is NOT a good look. It's just not like this woman who has been by his side for years to schedule a trip to SPAIN the week of his birthday. Most women I know would blow a gasket if the shoe was on the other foot. Maybe it's just me........but I doubt it.

Pay Black Farmers What You Owe Them!!!!

Why is this so hard to do? The U.S. government owe Black Farmers $1.25 BILLION in a discrimination lawsuit awarded to them YEARS AGO. But they haven't paid them because Congress "claim" they can't find the money. However, this same Congress "found" the money to pay WHITE farmers almost $2 BILLION as part of the Disaster Relief Act (or something like that)a year ago.

And people tell us to shut up when we scream RACISM!!!!!!!

Michael Steele's Perfect Timing

My main man Michael, the First Black Republican Chairman was scheduled to have a conversation with Roland Martin and the National Association of Black Journalists this past weekend. Unfortunately Mr.Steele came down with a case of food poisoning and canceled a few hours before the event was scheduled to take place.
Maybe it really was food poisoning,I don't know. But I do know it was perfect timing.
Considering he would be asked why he was silent about FOX "News" and other conservative outlets fabricated Shirley Sherrod racism story.
Considering he would be asked about his meeting with Andrew Breibhart(the guy who started the fabrication) to support him.
Considering he would be asked how he can defend the tea party as not being racist.
Considering he would be asked about his complete failure to attract "hip, cool" voters(his words not mines)to the Republican party.
Considering all of those things,I can't think of a better time to get food poisoning.
My feelings for Mr.Steele has been well documented here in The Board Room but I sincerly wish him a speedy recovery from his bout with food poisoning.
SERIOUSLY,I DO!!!

NO,STOP LAUGHING,I'M SERIOUS!!!!

FOR REAL-FOR REAL!!!!!

I AM serious!!!!

You guys don't believe me,huh?

Are Civil Rights Groups Still Relevant?

After the Shirley Sherrod incident a couple of weeks ago,I made the statement that the NAACP is no longer relevant. Ok,I said it a little stronger than that but I would like to pose the question again. Are the NAACP and other civil rights groups still relevant today? Maybe on the local level but nationally,I don't think so. There are too many other outlets who are able to reach people who otherwise wouldn't have a clue what's up going.Websites, blogs, talk radio and more aggressive, younger groups have replaced the old guard, who would prefer to march and protest as opposed to creating a plan and getting the word out quickly to put that plan into action. One of my personal favorites is the Color of Change, the group headed by Van Jones.I receive emails throughout the week that are very informative about things that are taking place in our community. Operation PUSH,The Rainbow Coalition,SCLC,NAACP,CBC and a few others how served the community well. But are they still relevant and effective as they have been in the past?
My answer to that is NO!
